I have to be honest with you. I kind of lost track a bit around the middle of the year. I think the reason is....I had a lot to focus on. We were desperately trying to get pregnant, counting days, taking temperatures, seeing doctors, researching Lyme and pregnancy, feeling emotional, and then of course, GETTING pregnant-through really stressful ways (by the way), and then...well...being pregnant! Needless to say, the last half of the year I was really focusing on one thing and one thing only- GETTING A BABY IN MY BELLY! Then...KEEPING A BABY IN MY BELLY! Oh, and I should probably mention another biggy- Clay happened to PUBLISH A BOOK! I don't think I've told you how much time and energy that took from both of us. Wowee a lot.
However, I feel I did pretty durn good, even though I did not even got close to meeting these goals. I still did a lot more than I think I would've without them!
Here were the goals and what I accomplished (I think...again, I kinda lost track a bit):
Play 1000 songs on the piano- 336 played
Read 12 new books- 5 read
Make 52 new recipes- 39 made
Have 12 memorable dates with Clay- 12 dates
Read Genesis through 2 Kings of the Old testament- Genesis read (a bit of exodus)

I don't regret making these goals at all! I do think I like my birthday thing better-having a list of things to do before the end of the year...I think I will keep doing that each birthday, until I don't want to anymore!
Danielle that's awesome! that's so much more than you would have done had you not made any goals at all! You did way more than alot of us combined! Awesome! love you!
ReplyDeleteI love that!! It gives me so much hope! And makes me realize if I don't reach all my goals I am going to try to be very happy with what I did accomplish. It has also made me think about how Heavenly Father must think about us. It helps me to not be so hard on myself, for I think you are awesome for what you accomplished and for setting the goals in the first place. Love you so much!!
ReplyDeleteHave to laugh about Genesis. It really makes me laugh. But I'm pretty sure I did the EXACT same thing, except I said I'd read the WHOLE bible. You made so many recipes it blows my mind. That is so cool, I wanna know what you made. I soooo fell off the bandwagon of food making this year. So disappointing, but what can you do? 'Tis a time and season for everything. And this year- it wasn't food. It wasn't anything really but SURVIVING!!! HOORAH!!! Thank you for posting this. I didn't want you to feel like a failure putting them up and was worried you would. I knew it would be so much, no matter what and I just had to know! You played a lot of songs too and I love that you did all the memorable dates. That really is a lot. You really had an incredibly accomplishing year- because that list doesn't include the two biggies- a baby and a book. Not on the goal list- but totally added to it. LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you for posting this.
ReplyDeleteThat is so amazing! I'm so happy for you and all you accomplished! Making goals really is the way to do it, SPECIFIC goals. And honestly, in a lot of ways, it's probably better to make big goals and get really far, even if you don't achieve them, than to make tiny goals you totally reach, but don't learn to grow by. You are so inspiring to me, and I'm seriously so excited to make my 16 birthday list next month! Thanks for the idea! I love you and always keep you and your baby in my prayers! :)
